Today,18th Nov 2017

was a Good  Day

by Volunteer Beverley

Hi. I'm Beverley from United Kingdom. Today, 18th November 2017 was a good day. I've overcome my fear of TGA! On 26th August 2017, whilst out running or possibly when I got back..(who knows?)  I had my first and hopefully only TGA.

I was confused, acting strange and repeatedly asking the same questions over and over again. My husband and son took me to hospital where I had a CT Angiogram Intracranial and CT Head Scan. All results were normal. I stayed in the hospital overnight and was told upon discharge the next day that it was a TGA.

I had follow up appointments for Carotid Doppler and an Echo Scan.... again both normal. I was told, as we all are, no known trigger and to carry on with my life. I have been running on and off for approx 25 years, but I was really put off because my TGA occurred whilst running.

My fear took over, and I couldn't face going out until TODAY!  I've been out and ran 2.4 miles. My husband came with me.  It was hard for him as he hasn't run since leaving the fire brigade over 10 years ago! Half way through I said to him,

"I'm ok now...you can take the short cut home."

"No!” he said. "I'm not letting you out of my sight."

He continued with me until the end. I feel overwhelmed today and grateful for all I have.

I wanted to share my story. This web page is truly amazing. Thank you, Rich Holl for putting my testimonial on our Web Site!
